On June 11 and 12, 2026, the 21st National Industry Conference on the Healthcare Industry took place in Rostock. The event is traditionally held under the patronage of the Minister President and attracted approximately 600 participants and visitors this year, who gathered to discuss the latest developments in the industry during 18 presentations and forums. Tamara Schikowski presented the NAKO Health Study as member of the board of directors. The German National Cohort (NAKO Gesundheitsstudie) is Germany’s largest long-term population study, in which more than 205,000 randomly selected people are examined comprehensively in 18 study centres. The research center in Düsseldorf is jointly operated by the IUF and the German Diabetes Center (DDZ), the Leibniz Center for Diabetes Research at the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf. At the start of the study in 2014, the NAKO participants were aged between 20 and 69. With data on lifestyle, environment and genetics, the German National Cohort (NAKO) contributes to prevention and personalized health care.
